Retreat Principles and FAQ

Retreat Principles

Every retreat is based on these principles

  • As a female-owned business, I feel passionately about supporting other women in business. So I do my absolute best to ensure that every business I work with to make a retreat for you is also female-owned.

  • There’s enough evidence to back my intuition that we learn and grow best when we have access to natural environments; it enhances our emotional, physical and cognitive wellbeing. Helio retreats are placed in nature to take advantage of its benefits and help you get the most out of the experience.

  • Most women I know (myself included) find it hard to get time and space for themselves. When I do, it seems like a luxury (although I know it shouldn’t be!) To give you the luxury of your own time & space, every retreat gives you a room to yourself, and time for yourself, to make help you feel rested and energised.

  • I know this can be hard for some people, but it’s a principle I’m pretty strict about. If you’re on a retreat, it’s about you – not about your email inbox, or social media, or whatever other thing draws your attention to a device.

  • I set a maximum number of participants for each retreat, to better manage the energy of the group and ensure everyone gets the most out of their time. When you’re on a Helio retreat, there’ll never be more than 9 other women in the group with you.

  • When you come to a Helio retreat, I know you’re there on your quest for self-development. To me, this means you’re there to learn and grow AT the retreat and AFTER the retreat. This means supporting your independence and self-sufficiency – and that’s what all Helio retreats are designed to support.

Retreat FAQ

  • I’m based in Melbourne, Victoria, and all of the retreats are held (at the moment) within 2.5 hours drive of the Melbourne CBD. The location of a specific retreat will depend on the time of year and the likely weather of a location. You will know the location of a retreat at the time it’s launched/scheduled, so you can decide whether it’s an appropriate location for you.

  • If you have a group of friends that would like to do a retreat together, but there isn’t a current retreat planned every member of the group should register their interest in the retreat you’d like to do togther in the future. Each member should let me know in the registration they’d like to be on the same event as their friends, and I will do my best to make this happen.

  • You pay a non-refundable deposit at time of booking, and then a week before the retreat pay the remainder (but you can pay earlier if you want). This helps us keep costs manageable for everyone and support the local businesses that we work with for each retreat.

  • The cost of each retreat depends on the location, duration and season (eg: a 6-day retreat in autumn will cost more than a 3-day retreat in winter). As a general guideline, retreats start from about $1800 ex GST. The price includes all accommodation, food, coaching and wellbeing sessions. Some retreats have extra add-ons you can select, which come at an extra cost.

  • If you have paid in full but can’t attend, if you cancel at least one week prior to the retreat, you will get a refund of 90%, less deposit. If you cancel up to 48 hours before the retreat, you will get a 50% refund (less deposit); no refund is available on cancellations later than 48 hours prior.

  • Yes. The retreats have a flow to each day that’s designed to have all the sessions work together for the right end result.

  • I do run coaching sessions for corporate retreats or can run a retreat for a single group booking. If this is what you’re looking for, please get in touch via eva@hellohelio.co
